Registration of a Vehicle Keeper Marking Code- VKM
According to the agreement on uniform rules for the registration of a vehicle keeper marking code (VKM) signed by the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA) and the Intergovernmental Organisation for International Carriage by Rail (OTIF) on 4 July 2007, each keeper of a rail (railway) vehicle has to apply to the national safety authority for the assignment of a vehicle keeper marking code on the basis of the rules for the registration of a vehicle keeper marking code.
All keepers of railway vehicles in the Republic of Slovenia must apply to the competent authority–the Public Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Railway Transport for the allocation of a vehicle keeper marking code (VKM). The application for the assignment of the vehicle keeper marking code (VKM), once received and approved by the Public Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Railway Transport, is also the acknowledgement of receipt of the application for the assignment of the VKM.
The competent authority shall verify that the applicant complies with the applicable rules. After checking the data, the Public Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Railway Transport submits the completed document to ERA. The vehicle keeper marking code is valid when the same is published in the VKM register. Updates to the register are made on the first Wednesday of each month. The version number and date of issue are indicated.
