The safety certification body of the RS may restrict or revoke the single safety certificate it has issued. The safety certification body of the RS shall restrict or revoke a safety certificate if it has established through its supervision activities that the keeper of a single safety certificate no longer meets the conditions under which the certificate was issued.

If the safety certification body of the RS identifies a serious safety risk, it may take proportionate enforcement actions. For example, the safety authority of the RS can suspend the railway operations of the railway undertaking. On the basis of this decision, the safety certification body of the RS shall evaluate whether the single safety certificate should be updated with restrictions or, as a last resort, revoked.

A railway undertaking whose single safety certificate has been restricted or revoked may appeal against the decision of the safety certification body of the RS.

All revocation or restriction procedures following the issue of a single safety certificate are managed in the One-Stop Shop and recorded in the ERADIS database.
